Want to shop local? Edmond Farmer's Market is the place to go. Located in downtown Edmond, farmers bring their crops directly to the customer. Being located downtown, it's a great place for residents of Edmond, office workers and visitors to find fresh produce and manufactured food items. There are extras, as well, like flower and gardening vendors. The market has been operating since 1988 and is open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Edmond Farmers Market is a registered market with The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry and meets all licensure requirements with the Oklahoma Department of Health.

Arcadia Lake spans 1,820 surface acres just to the East of Edmond. It was designed to act as flood control for the Deep Fork River basin, but has become a picturesque habitat to a wide variety of wildlife, as well as a hub for adventurous souls of all kinds. Compared to most of Oklahoma’s lakes, Arcadia is fairly young. It opened to the public in 1987 and hasn’t slowed down on its growth. Currently, the cities of Edmond and OKC, with help from private donors, are developing a multi-use trail system that will eventually be 18 miles encircling the lake. Some of the trails are open to the public currently, with construction continuing until completion.

If you are in need of a weekend getaway, but don’t want to leave the Urban Core; Arcadia should be your destination. The camp spots around Arcadia Lake range from primitive camp sites to RV sites with full water, electric and sewage connections. A word to the wise: don’t show up late. The staff at Arcadia will not take reservations and all spots are on a first come first serve basis.

The lake has a covered dock that is heated to allow year round fishing. The local favorites are bluegill, largemouth bass and channel catfish. Arcadia Lake also has become the go-to spot for wake boarding, waterskiing and general tubing. Speed boats and bass boats dot the water and congregate around sandy beaches filled with sunbathers and children playing in the water.

Mountain bikers have claimed a home on the north side of the lake with multiple dirt trails that are coveted by beginners to expert riders. Hikers can drift off into the trails and forget that they are only a 20 minute drive from their homes. Don’t forget your bug spray and water!

All in all, Arcadia Lake gives the Metro area a slice of the great outdoors without the long drive to any of our other State Parks. Whether you need a morning hike or you want to work on your bronze at the beach, Arcadia Lake can supply all of this with the ease of driving down the street. Bring a tent and stay for the weekend!

Native Summit is our go-to outdoor outfitter. They are located in downtown Edmond at 100 N. Broadway #118. They get our pop-by business more than I’d like to admit. Whenever we have an adventure planned, we stop in to fill out our gear list. Most importantly, the staff is cordial and have a burning love for nature. They changed their name in November 2016 from Edmond Summit Co. However, that is all that has changed about this shop. Reasonable prices go hand in hand with their quality brands. If you love adventure, but don’t want to go broke in the process; Native Summit should be your outfitter as well.

We're very excited about our newest coffee shop in downtown Edmond! Ellis Island opened the doors in February 2017 and continues to expand their menu with the latest addition of Paninis! The cozy urban atmosphere is perfect for business meetings, coffee with friends or an afternoon glass of wine.

In Northeast Edmond it's hard to find a great restaurant. Its seems that you either have to go to a chain or closer to Oklahoma City to find good food. Eddies is locally owned and operated, friendly, welcomes children, and is right in our backyard. The food is not only great but the portion sizes are enough to fill any appetite From BBQ ribs to Salmon this place truly is home cooking.

No matter what you do, you have to try the Cajun Shrimp and Chicken Pasta! Everyone in your family will find a favorite on this menu. Its open, so come support a business right here next door.

Looking forward to dinner in Edmond Thursday night and this performance. If you like to hear unusual musical instruments, talented musicians playing them and a great local auditorium for the performance, then you'll want to clear your schedule and be at the Armstrong Auditorium tonight at 7:30 p.m.

I play a little guitar and sing, but I have never heard the sweet sounds of a Pipa, a lute type of Asian instrument. I was told this instrument is over 2000 years old! Developed in China, this ancient musical instrument will be played by Wu Man who is known as the Pipa premier virtuoso. She has played with Yo Yo Ma and that Silk Road Project, some very atmospheric music. There's good reason to see this one tonight!

The performance is by Wu Man and the Shanghai String Quartet and you'll experience the music of China, multimedia effects, and even Chinese cinema scores like Raise the Red Lantern, Farewell My Concubine and more. Lots of traditional Chinese folk songs and instrumental variations will be on tap. I'm pretty excited about this performance and hope you can schedule in some time tonight to make it!

I have two very special crafting friends who own scrapbooking crafting stores in Edmond. Today I'm wanting to share with everyone this great craft store owned by my dear friend and real estate client, Nancy Taylor! The name of the store is Paper Arts near Downtown Edmond.
This store is definitely my 'happy place' especially with all the parties, present buying and shopping this holiday time of the year. Here are some December events if you want to drop by Paper Arts and check out the supplies, instructors and classes on crafting and scrapbooking.

December 9 was the Graphic 45 Trifold Screen frame class. There was a $40 fee for supplies and the class, but was well worth it. December 10 brought the Card Buffet from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. It was a card making class that rotated and had different stations like a food buffet. By the way,for those who were real hungry, they could check out THE FIXX burger restaurant right next door! One event is left on December 13th. This is Chipboard 101 and it's a blast. It will be from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. This is a very popular class and only costs $15.

Come by this great store, say hello to Nancy and enjoy some crafting and arts in Edmond, Oklahoma at Paper Arts!

A delightful way to enjoy any day is a visit to Cafe Evoke, located in charming downtown Edmond. The street is brick lined, but inside the cafe has a sleek, modern vibe. Come early for a breakfast of pastries, yogurt parfaits, breakfast sandwiches and such served from 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. or join a friend for lunch to enjoy an array of salads and hot sandwich offerings.

After 2:00 p.m. the kitchen closes, but the baristas are still on hand to create delicious coffee drinks and cocktails for the ideal place to linger in conversation. Make this your new brunch, lunch, or after work meeting place. You will not be disappointed!

Hafer Park of Edmond is a family favorite! Located just north of 15th off Bryant, you will find this is a great spot for kids of all ages. Hafer Park certainly offers the obvious, multiple play areas for the kiddos. However, there is so much more. The park features running/walking trails for the active, a climbing wall, wonderful park space for lounging and picnics, a stage area, and lovely scenic grounds. I often see photographers of all levels roaming around. The pond area is a popular spot, with the kiddos lining up to feed the ducks. Also, Pelican Bay is adjacent to the park, so keep that in mind during the summer months. If you are looking for a day out of the house, swing by Hafer Park.

For those homeowners living around the Western/Danforth area of Edmond, you probably have noticed some new changes to the landscape.

First, the lane expansion for eastbound/westbound Danforth has wrapped up. The lane expansion for northbound/southbound Western is well underway, so the total project is just about complete. Additionally, the four-way stop at Danforth and Western has been updated with a traffic light, so rush hour is no longer a nightmare. It is fantastic!

Secondly, there is wonderful new commercial growth at the corner of Danforth and Western. The new Stonebriar Plaza is completed, with new tenants opening as we speak. Currently, Hudson's Public House Bar and Grill, Mod Nail Salon & Spa and The Donut Shop are in place.

Stonebriar Plaza is surrounded by many large neighborhoods, so the road expansion and commercial development will certainly help boost property value. Great to see this growth around the city!

Quick update on some news I saw coming across my desk this morning. It's about one of my favorite local restaurants and some expansion plans in the works. Even better, it serves one of my favorite communities in the OKC Metro area.

Edmond will be getting a new Ludivine restaurant location! I love the downtown location in OKC, but it will be nice to have one with easy access for my friends and clients who live in Edmond. How nice to be able to enjoy this very unique and exceptional locally owned restaurant. The plan is to locate the Ludivine inspired Edmond location at 101 West 2nd Street in Edmond, Oklahoma. It will seat about 70 people and the plan is to also take advantage of the nice weather in Oklahoma and have a covered patio for light dining and cocktails, wine and general fun libations. I'm not familiar with the wood treatment idea they have planned for the structure which they describe as shou sugi ban siding as a timber treatment, but I'l bet it will be attractive and functional to their plans to establish a quality dining spot in Edmond. There's even going to be a Farmer's Market right next door for availability of fresh and local natural ingredients for the meals served there at Ludivine Edmond.

The name has not been determined for this Ludivine owner restaurant, but if Ludivine is any predictor of success and dining pleasure, then you'll know they will name and brand it appropriately. Can't wait to see how this develops! If you can't wait to experience it, then head on over to the existing locations for their fine restaurant fare. Check out the fun and dining excellence at R&J Supper Club in Midtown and Ludivine in Downtown OKC and get prepared for similar dining excellence in Edmond soon!

As high as 21,000 vehicles travel SH-74 north of Memorial daily. For those living in SW Edmond, and have had to travel SH 74 for the past several years, I know you are excited about the new expansion project. The new $34 million project started on Feb. 2 of '15. The first phase, from Memorial to just north of 164th, will feature expansion from two to four lanes, a new bridge over 150th, along with ramps to and from north/south bound SH-74 and 150th. This project will add one-way service roads on both sides to allow for access to businesses, along with accommodating for future growth. The project is estimated to take approximately one year to complete, with a new phase two project scheduled for 2018. The second construction phase will take SH-74 north of 164th up to Covell. Obviously, it's tough on those living around the area, dealing with daily traffic congestion and construction. However, once complete, this should really make a positive impact on your property value. Food for thought as you shop neighborhoods around this corridor.

If you want a place to hike and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, Lake Arcadia is the place to go. You will not find a more serene area within the city limits of the City of Edmond. Lake Arcadia offers swimming in the summer, kayaking, skiing, fishing, mountain biking and hiking. The park also has several picnic and camping areas for the entire family.

Also, come out and witness bald eagles displaying their grace and beauty during the Arcadia Lake Eagle Watch. Dress warmly, bring your binoculars and embark on an adventure around the lake's 26 miles of picturesque shoreline. All eagle watches will begin at the Arcadia Lake park office, where visitors will receive information about where the eagles can be found.

I highly recommend the hiking at Lake Acadia. Not only is it a fun time but great exercise. It is a gift to yourself that nature gives. If you work behind a desk all day, this would be the place to go to just breath. Hope to see you there!!

If you like to go the movies like I do, especially for a date night, then Tinseltown USA is the place to go. My husband and I go there almost every Friday night to catch the latest releases at a great price. If you go in the afternoons, prices are around $4.40 per person. You can't beat that and you can get popcorn and a drink and still be under budget. The Oklahoma City Zoo is just across the street along with the Science Museum and Remington Park. So much to do and so much fun for the entire family.

There is always something to do in Edmond/Oklahoma City on Halloween. One of the favorite places for adults and families is Frontier City Frightfest. Frightfest includes costumed ghouls and monsters, a trick-or-treat trail for the kids, live music, dancing and other Halloween-related activities. Organizers refer to the event as "family by day and fright by night," with the family-oriented activities taking place in the afternoon and the more adult-oriented scares beginning around 7 p.m. Booville is aimed more for children. They can stroll the trick-or-treat trail, have their faces painted or just enjoy painting pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. Bring your kids for fun and hauntings to Frontier City.

Oklahoma City and surrounding towns offer so many great things to see and do but nothing compares to the sunsets Oklahomans get to see. On any given evening in the spring, summer, fall or winter you can behold magnificent colors that are painted in the western sky. One of the many ways to witness these sunsets is to find an open field, pasture, area trails or just in your own backyard. It's such a blessing to love where I live.
