When entering Nichols Hills from 63rd, you can expect to find a park in the center of the road filled with children playing, parents pushing strollers down the winding path, soccer practice as the sun goes down, and an overall feel of the Nichols Hills community. This park is known as Grand Blvd. Park and one of my favorites. I love the wide-open green stretch of land with big trees for shade. The curvy jogging trails are one of my favorite spots to unwind in the evenings walking with friends or starting my morning early with my to-go cup of coffee. Not only is the park filled with beautiful trees and community, but lined with exquisite and stunning homes. There are a few bridges to walk across to enjoy the scenery as well as adorable dogs and accessible water fountains for all.

Nichols Hills is not only known for its winding roads and big, tall, green trees, but its yearly events people look forward to. I love the Nichols Hills Garden Tour. Residents open up their backyard gates for viewing by their neighbors. This is a way for people to get out and about to tour vegetable gardens, and flowers, and take a break from their day. One holiday Nichols Hills takes a lot of pride in celebrating is The 4th of July held at the beautiful and spacious Kite Park. Friends and families come out with their decorated bikes, fun costumes, and their best red, white, and blue to help celebrate America as they walk down the streets of Nichols Hills. Not only is Kite Park known for the parade and its beauty, but it is also known as the landing ground for live music all summer long. Every third Thursday of the month was known for The Nichols Hills Band playing live music under the gazebo. Families bring picnics, children run and play, and a nice summer evening is set to enjoy live music and community under the stars. Nichols Hills in the summer is packed with excitement, but do not forget about the Kitchen Tour held in the fall. This tour is a fundraiser for health-related non-profits. Guests of the tour purchase tickets and can tour different homes that are listed on the Kitchen Tour.

This peaceful park with stunning views holds a special place in my heart. My husband of 30 years proposed to me in this very park. It soon became one of my favorite places to bring our children to play. When you come to visit, you will find it to be a meeting and gathering place where children play and also various events take place. Bands play in the gazebo in the summer months, while visitors gather around with their picnics and blankets. This park is a very sought after location as families find their homes surrounding the park itself. Kite Park was established in 1934 and redeveloped with a new look and feel in 2008.

Davis Park was one of my favorite locations to play with my children when they were young. The park was renovated in 1997 with paved sidewalks and playground amenities. Today, you will see mothers with their babies and children, people exercising, and views of beautiful homes surrounding the park. This peaceful and shady park is located within one mile of the restaurants and shopping at Nichols Hills Plaza and also Classen Curve.

  • Have you been looking for something a little different for a Weekend Brunch in Oklahoma City
How about dipping your toes into the Nichols Hills Plaza dining scene? I had the best brunch/lunch at The Hutch in Nichols Hills Plaza and I wanted to share a few of my personal top pick tips for this lovely locally owned restaurant. This is a lovely restaurant, and the food is affordable and very flavorful!

My choice for my client brunch was the All-Natural Black Angus 8oz. Burger. Loaded with fresh
Lettuce, Tomato, Caramelized Onions, Bacon & Tillamook Cheddar Cheese! Yes, I know you might think that a burger is a burger, but they do a really good job on this meal and the Yukon Frites as a side made it perfect!

My client ordered the Vegetarian Pasta. This unique dish is composed of House-Made Cavatelli, Summer Squash, Zucchini, Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes & a Red Pepper Romesco Sauce Topped with a Poached Egg. How's that for a variety specialty pasta dish?

Highly recommend you visit the Nichols Hills Plaza shopping and dining scene soon. Don't forget to stop by Organic Squeeze right there in the Plaza for a healthy smoothie drink after your meal. The Hutch is located at 6437 Avondale Dr in Nichols Hills, OK.

Also, I'm excited to announce that Pennsylvania Avenue southbound is finally open after many months of extensive construction (which is where I was when snapping this photo)! I love this time of year in Nichols Hills. I enjoy driving through the neighborhoods and strolling through the parks looking at the beautiful Redbud trees, so relaxing. If you haven't been to the Redbud Classic you must go! An awesome event for the whole family. Enjoy the bike ride, wheelchair event, stroller derby, kid's fun run and the Redbud Bash etc . . . it's for everyone.
  • Nichols Hills offers a number of options for impeccable shopping and dining. One of the best coffee shops located in this beautiful city is All About Cha. A chain that originated in Korea, All About Cha offers delicious drinks that range from traditional options such as americanos and lattes to more exotic teas and matcha tea lattes. With plenty of seating in an elegantly appointed space, this is a great place to catch up with a friend, meet a client, or get work done. Be sure to treat yourself to one (or three) of the the artful and delicious desserts displayed in the front. Lunch and dinner offerings are also available, and their sushi is very well done. All About Cha is another compelling reason to visit - and live - in the gorgeous city of Nichols Hills.
  • I always loved dining at The Coach House in Nichols Hills. One of Oklahoma's most cherished fine dining establishments, it was a class place to have private business dinners with my clients and family.

Located in Nichols Hills Plaza in the city of Nichols Hills...The Coach House had a reputation of being the best place to be for excellent service, food and creative chef driven menus!
The Coach House utilized local produce from all over Oklahoma way before it was popular. This has now turned into what is known as "Oklahoma cuisine." It was top shelf all the way when you dined at The Coach House!

The Coach House is going away, but the owners and chefs of The Coach House will reopen a new concept in the very same location. It will showcase the trend of making fine dining not so formal.Should be very interesting to see what appears and takes the place of The Coach House here in Nichols Hills.

It was announced in "The Oklahoman" on January 30, 2016, that Tony Say will tear down 23 ramshackle rent houses that he personally owns on Cumberland Drive to make way for a new tight enclave of million dollar plus homes. Cumberland Court is just north of Nichols Hills Plaza and stretches 800 feet, extending from Western Avenue to Avondale Drive. The current homes were built in 1946 and 1947 and will be razed in February offering 23 lots for custom upscale homes by select builders who must follow a determined set of architectural standards.

Cumberland Court will offer exclusive concierge services such as dry cleaning, dog walking, sidewalk access to Nichols Hills Plaza and more. Residents will be able to access the new development off Avondale only. A pedestrian gate will be installed giving homeowners access to Western Avenue by foot. Homes will range from 3,200 to 6,500 square feet (including optional center courtyard), and homes will range from $1.5 million and up.

Mr. Say's vision is that this turns a blighted area into an exclusive development. Those who live there will enjoy an urban living experience and have the security of a private neighborhood. He looks forward to Oklahoma City having a unique, urban residential area that has convenient access to Nichols Hills Plaza as well as other businesses and restaurants in the area.

Nichols Hills was founded in 1928, by Dr. Nichols. Dr. Nichols saw many Oklahoma City residential neighborhoods being encroached by Oklahoma City Oil Field and industrial districts and to protect home owners, Dr. Nichols developed Nichols Hills by placing restrictions on undesirable commercial activity.

Nichols Hills is known to have some of the highest housing prices in the state of Oklahoma. Its citizens have the highest average household income in Oklahoma. Known as a haven for the city's most affluent and influential residents past and present, this community features an unmatched degree of privacy and impeccably manicured surroundings, as well as a range of attractive real estate offerings. My favorite time of year in Nichols Hills is The Red Bud Classic. The Red Bud has become an Oklahoma City tradition involving the community through fitness, fun, and philanthropy. To me it signifies spring and is a fun social event I remember from when I was a child. As an adult, I love the exercise and to look at all the beautiful homes along Grand Boulevard in Nichols Hills. There is music playing and people lining the streets. I love how they sit out on their beautiful front lawns in front of such magnificent houses to watch and cheer everyone on during the race. I love how it symbolizes spring to the community and everything starts to become green and beautiful and the redbuds, of course, are blooming. This year I loved running in it with my daughter.

My family, friends, and office are all located in the beautiful community of Nichols Hills. History, tradition, and elegance describe this beautiful Oklahoma City community. You will find winding paved roads, trails, parks, and beautiful trees. Nichols Hills is located right in the heart of Oklahoma City and is the place to be. I love the style of the neighborhoods, filled with historic, unique, and beautiful homes. Centrally located and so close to downtown and midtown - the shops and restaurants on Western, Nichols Hills Plaza, and Classen Curve are all close by, providing quick access to amazing shopping and award-winning cuisine. Nichols Hills is a city within a city with its own police and fire departments. Every metropolitan area has its older well respected and highly sought-after community, and Nichols Hills is it for Oklahoma City. There is so much history and such a beautiful story behind the development of the city.

Nichols Hills is a place of enduring charm with homes built as early as 1939 and is currently enjoying a surge of new construction on existing home sites. You can find any architectural style including Tudor Revival, French, Colonial, Cape Cod, Spanish, Italian, Ranch and Contemporary. Home prices range from $300K to over $3 million and are in walking or biking distance to many local shops and restaurants.

The feature I love most about Nichols Hills are the parks. Smaller individual parks, many with playgrounds and gazebos, abound. Every year a little piece of Americana happens in Kite Park. It is host to the annual 4th of July parade and celebration complete with the neighborhood volunteer band. The grandfather of all the parks is the Grand Boulevard Park, lined with sidewalks it winds its way through most of Nichols Hills, and is actively enjoyed by all people. The two big events that occur there are the Pooch Parade, where everyone gets to show off their four legged friends, and the Redbud Classic, a signature event in Oklahoma City. Each April the Redbud Classic brings out neighbors and people from all over the city for a 10K and a fun walk/run. The Redbud is named after the hundreds of redbud trees that dot the parks and homes in Nichols Hills.
