This main entrance of this community is at the junction of Hwy 69 and E 16th street in Chouteau OK. The rock entrance walls flank both sides of the street with no homes visible at this entrance. Even though this is an established neighborhood, by the local residents, a person new to the area might miss this hidden beauty. Just a few streets east on 16th Street, Chouteau Hills Estates really comes alive. The neighborhood streets are named after Native American tribes such as Cherokee, Delaware, Fox, Hopi, Iroquois, Kiowa, Miami, Navajo, and Osage. Osage Avenue is the street furthest east and bumps up to Corps of Engineer land that is not developed. The deer roam freely throughout this area. It is very common to be sitting on your front or back porch in the early morning and witness deer walking through the neighborhood. In 1994 nine-acre lots were purchased for $10,000. Five acre lots on 16th Street and Cherokee Avenue are currently selling for $55,000. Those lots are selling fast and new construction homes are being built. The mixture of older homes with newer homes is sprinkled throughout the neighborhood. It has a charming blend of vintage to modern appeal. Consider building your new home here or buy an already established home. Either way, this neighborhood is certainly one to watch.
