  • Jay, OK is the county seat of Delaware County in NE Oklahoma. Jay has a population of around 2,500 and is located about 10 miles SE of Grand Lake O' Cherokees, a popular retirement and recreation area in Oklahoma.

    The Cherokee Indian tribe has several offices and medical facilities in the community. Jay was originally plotted/developed as the county seat for Delaware County and is located in the center of the county. With very little industry in the area, Delaware County is the poorest county in Oklahoma and about 25% of the population of Jay live below the poverty line.

    Jay, OK is known as the Huckleberry Capital of the World and every July 4th week end the annual Huckleberry Festival is held.
