Who's up for St. Patrick's Day in Oklahoma City? Do you love a parade? I love the amazing amount of fun that keeps developing in our OKC lifestyle community. St. Patrick's Day is a huge event here. I remember participating in the St. Pat's Run out at Lake Hefner a few years ago, and wanted to also share some less strenuous events and fun going on this St. Patrick's Day here in OKC.
So what would St. Patrick's Day be like without a parade? Not very fun or green! We do have a nice parade in Downtown OKC coming up. And yes, it's all about St. Patrick's Day!
Our parade this year will start at 11:00 am at Sheridan and Hudson Avenues. Come enjoy 60+ floats and organizations, the Oklahoma City Energy FC soccer players will even be there. It's going to be grand! It's not too early so you can get yourself out there in time after green eggs and ham for breakfast. Expect a large turnout with pretty good weather in the forecast. Our weather has been quite mild and that should help on this parade event. This is on Saturday, March 12 and not Thursday, March 17, St. Patrick's Day.
If you are more into eating and watching the parade then you are in luck! Enjoy free live music, food trucks and 20 beers on tap at The TapWerks St. Patrick's Day block party will offer music, a variety of food trucks and multiple beers on tap. This St. Pat's party will last 11:00 am to midnight in the parking lot east of TapWerks. The fare and fun will surely fit your bill. If you plan on staying up late, try the 27th annual Bricktown St. Patrick's Day block party at Oklahoma and Reno Avenues. Admission is free and the party starts at 2:00 pm and lasts until midnight. You won't have an excuse to be too busy for that!
My favorite Downtown OKC attraction is the Myriad Botanical Gardens Center. The Myriad Botanical Gardens will hold activities on March 17, including a bagpipe performance by Oklahoma Scottish Pipes and Drums from 11:00 am-2:00 pm and Irish dancing by the Oklahoma Academy of Irish Dance Performance from noon to 12:30 pm. Also, make sure to check out the membership plan at the Myriad Gardens. Great value and year round fun!
Remember, the parade for St. Patrick's Day is Saturday March 12, not March 17th which is the actual St. Patrick's Day. Hope you find some green beer and fun in OKC this St. Patrick's Day. Enjoy our OKC lifestyle!
