Yukon is a growing community right off of Interstate 40 making it easy access to Oklahoma City, Edmond, and more. This city has highly rated schools, too many options of restaurants to mention, shopping, and so much more. If you are looking to live just outside Oklahoma City, Yukon will be worth exploring.
  • Gone are the days of Starbucks being your only coffee option in Yukon. Just within the last few years, Yukon gained All About Cha, Vacca Coffehouse, The Red Bird Coffee House, Summer Moon Coffee, and Coffee Jerks! As if that isn't enough, currently under construction on Vandament and Garth Brooks Boulevard is a brand new Dutch Bros. Coffee expected to be up and running by late 2021, early 2022. Let's all do our part in making that Starbucks line a little shorter and try out one (or many) of the new coffee businesses that Yukon has to offer.
  • This beautiful park lines the Mulvey Pond in Central Yukon. The Mulvey Pond has two other parks attached to it, Chisholm Trail Park and Freedom Trail Park. These parks host a multitude of community events such as the annual Festival of the Child, the annual Christmas in the Park, the annual Youth Fishing Derby, and the annual Freedom Fest. This beautiful area is a nature lover's paradise. There is a designated area to bird watch, plenty of ducks and geese to feed, local fishing, and walking trails that are lined with mature trees. The large trees are strung with over five million Christmas lights for the annual Christmas in the Park. There are over 100 acres of lit up Christmas lights and whimsical holiday displays to view.

During the warmer months you may want to take advantage of the playgrounds; one of which is an award-winning handicap-accessible playground, the tennis courts, volleyball courts, or the community pool. The Yukon Community Center is located on the same grounds as the adjoining three parks. The Yukon Community Center has basketball courts, a game room, and a weight room accessible to Yukon residents. Don't forget to come out to the annual Freedom Fest on July 3rd and 4th. There are tons of activities, food, and performances lined up for all ages.

Attending Freedom Fest and Christmas in the Park is a family tradition for my household. No matter how old my children are, they always look forward to these two events!
  • Pawtopia is a wonderful, local pet supply store in Yukon. They opened their doors on October 15, 2015. Their passion is animals and rescue animals. You can see that each time you step in. They have grown their pet supply store to what it is today.

There are now two locations, one in Yukon (335 S Mustang Rd) and one in Norman (360 24th Ave NW). They strive to provide the best holistic, natural foods at affordable prices to the community. They have a unique "Chew Bar" that is full of natural chews and a self serve bath area which both are very popular. Two precious kitties welcome you into the store and are quite friendly. You can really feel they love their customers and the community. I definitely recommend this store for all of your pet needs.

That's right. Professional soccer is coming to Yukon. Don't miss your chance to see Rayo OKC in their home opener the weekend of April 2, 2016. They will play all of their home games at Miller Stadium - Yukon High School. Rayo OKC is a member of the National American Soccer League. They are considered a Division 2 team, which is just below the Major League Soccer. They have five players that have played for teams in the World Cup and nine players that have played for their respective national teams.
  • Pets and People is doing a great service saving animals from local kill shelters and keeping them happy and healthy until they can find their forever home. The staff is very friendly and will work with you to make sure to find the right animal for you.

I visited them several times over about six weeks before I found the perfect dog for our family. MacGyver has been a great addition to the family! They were very helpful in matching us with not only the right dog, but with a vet and boarding services.

They are open seven days a week from 12:00 to 5:30 p.m. If you are considering a new member of your family, be sure to check them out first. They will make sure to find the right fit for you!
  • The City of Yukon is a robust, family oriented community of 24,000 residents who strive to be the best. We have safe neighborhoods, a low crime rate, excellent schools, quality medical care and strong values. We have small town charm with many shopping and dining amenities common to metro areas. Our towering iconic flour mill has proclaimed for over a century, "Yukon's Best Flour" and conveys our desire to do and be the best. Yukon is located along the western boundary of Oklahoma City and is on Interstate 40. The historic Route 66 runs through downtown. The Kilpatrick Turnpike is nearby. Welcome to Yukon's Best.
  • A bedroom community of Oklahoma City Metro, Yukon is a wonderful town to live in. I found this town to have many conveniences, but still gives a feeling of being in the country away from the big city. The growth in Yukon has exploded with many new housing additions popping up everywhere for several income brackets. Luxury executive style homes to first time buyer homes are available to choose from in several areas of Yukon!

The Yukon Millers Football Team has captured their town by their excellent, consistent records. The faithful attendees keep coming back for more every season. The high schools are really nice and the town is festive during all sports. Speaking of seasons, the holidays in Yukon are a winter wonderland with the colorful lights decorating the streets, homes and town for Christmas.

Definitely, check out Yukon as a place to live. It's easy to travel between towns such as Edmond by Turnpike, or Oklahoma City Metro by Interstate 40. Enjoy!
