Meat Market Refectory 2920 NW 63rd StreetRefectory [ri-fek-tuh-ree]noun, 1. a dining hall in a religious house, a college, or other institution.I had to look up refectory...I do get around, but I hadn't heard of a refectory. From the moment we walked in we could tell we were in for a treat! The restaurant is divided into sections with each having its own unique feel. A "hallway" of booths evoked a romantic, private feeling. Another dining area was suitable for larger groups or individual tables. We were seated in the open area adjacent to the bar. The silver upholstered booths gave an elegant, throw back to the 1920's feel. Our waiter was Daniel and he was perfection. His smile and attention to detail made for an enjoyable evening! Now for the food! Oh my, oh my! I had the Cedar Plank Salmon, MMR potatoes and spinach with pecans - all prepared to perfection and delicious. My friend had the filet and he said it was the best he had ever had (and he's a steak guy!). Not only tender, but with a distinctive flavor that must come from the organic grain fed beef and extra long aging process. The wine list was extensive and our selection was perfect. We didn't have room for dessert. Maybe we will drop in some evening just for dessert! As we were leaving we noticed the butcher shop on the west side of the building. Well stocked for those who prefer to prepare their own steaks! I live nearby and watched the long process of preparing the building for it's new role. After seeing inside I can appreciate all of the craftsmanship that went into the renovation. They offer valet parking, have a friendly staff and, though pricey, it is well worth it! Menu, wine, service - Five Stars from this foodie!
