A good friend of mine and fellow real estate agent was gracious enough to treat me to my first experience at Eddie's, on the corner of 2nd Street and Coltrane and it was fantastic! Let it be known, this is a sports bar-type restaurant so during peak hours and big sports events, this could be a loud environment. But on a typical day, it's the perfect laid-back, down-to-earth, casual atmosphere for a casual lunch with friends, colleagues, clients, etc. Serving American-style food like pizza, pasta, dinner salads, burger and fries, wings, and more they've got something for just about any mood. I got their Prime Rib Beef Stroganoff which was rich in flavor with a creamy texture, but not too heavy. It was hearty and a perfect meal for this windy, winter evening!

If you're ever hungry while on the north side of Edmond, I highly recommend giving Eddie's a go! You'll be glad you did!

If you're in Edmond and haven't been to Taqueria Los 3 Tapatios at 630 S Broadway you're missing out! Everything tastes fresh and super flavorful. My go-to is carnitas tacos. I recommend eating there so you can try the different salsas they have to offer and get the red onions with habanero. In my opinion, this is easily one of the best lunch options in Edmond. Need someone to go with? Give me a call, it's just up the road from my office and I'm always up for tacos!

  • Between Broadway and Boulevard on 5th Street in Edmond, Oklahoma there lies a restaurant that brings authentic Japanese Ramen to Oklahomans. Only being around since the year 2015 they have mastered the art of ramen. Not only do they serve ramen, but my personal favorite dish on the menu is Garlic Fried Rice, Karaage Style. Watch out though; it will blow any other fried rice you have had out of the water. If you go on a busy Friday or Saturday night be prepared for a wait because the restaurant itself isn't that big. Be sure to check it out and then maybe head over to the UCO Jazz Lab! They also have another location in the Midtown Area.

Iris Memory Care takes care of residents with all types of dementia using a unique approach for folks living with dementia that focuses on each person at each stage in the journey of their disease. Denise Diaz, Marketing Director, talks about the process that Iris Memory Care uses to provide individualized care. “Our overall philosophy is to provide purposeful living to maintain quality of life. We have two buildings that provide a private home like setting. Our building A is for our residents at the later stage of the disease, this stage requires a lot more assistance with transferring, feeding, and all daily activities. Then we have building B which is for individuals that are in the earlier to middle stage of the disease. At this stage, residents can still do a lot for themselves and are able to participate in most activities as well as outside field trips. Both buildings identical so that our residents aren’t aware of the transition from B to A when the disease has caused so much decline that they need to transition. Each house holds a maximum of 20 residents, which creates a more comfortable environment. For more information, call Denise Diaz at 405-696-8700.

When you get worn out from all the fun in the sun, there is the Pelican Bay Café Snack Bar. This Aquatic Center is owned by the City of Edmond, so prices stay reasonable. Anyone can get a ticket for less than ten dollars, and still less for children. The complex can also be rented out for private parties. Is there a better place for a summertime celebration... I can not say enough about this hole-in-the-wall hamburger joint in Edmond just near downtown. The address is 644 W Edmond Rd, Edmond OK 73003 and it is located off of 2nd Street just east of Kelly before you get to Broadway. Don't let the looks fool you. It is located in a strip mall and it's quite quaint. The food is far from small though! The portions are massive and the menu is broad. I love the Reuben on Rye with Onion Rings. To die for! To my surprise, not only do they serve beer but a have a full bar. The waitstaff is extremely friendly and truly cares about what they do. The food here is delicious!

The increased interest in land ownership has increased with the reduction in home availability and some of the challenges with getting a winning offer in on your desired home. Some clients have turned to look for acreage to build their own home or move a manufactured home onto as an option to a home purchase. This route has many pros and cons that after careful consideration may or may not be the right avenue for you and your family. Three of each to consider.

    Pros
    1) Depending on the size of the lot or number of acres, you reduce your immediate neighbors
    2) Land allows you to expand your footprint with out-buildings, home expansions, animals, etc.
    3) There are a lot of vacant land options in all communities in a range of prices available for sale

    Cons
    1) Providing utilities to the property. You will need to pay to drill for well water, pull electric, and possible septic system install. All of which can be expensive in addition to the land cost
    2) Properties might have restrictions that need to be vetted to ensure home types, animals ownership or easements fit with your desired living conditions
    3) Conveniences like groceries, shopping, gasoline, and more can be quite a distance away

While there are considerations, more people of late are moving toward finding their own lot, building their own homes, and finding this process much more to their liking and in a lot of cases getting more for their money.
  • Delmer Lakes is located off Western Ave in Edmond. I was able to walk through a new home in the subdivision and thought you were getting a lot for your money. A 3 bedroom, 2 bath with 1650 square feet was a nice surprise. Most of the homes are all in the mid-$200k range and have a lot of available upgrades on those homes currently under construction.
