For the past six years, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to serve on the Business Services Team at Owasso Public Schools. When I first stepped into this role, I had no idea just how much it would shape me, both professionally and personally.

Working behind the scenes in public education is a unique kind of service. While educators are on the frontlines shaping young minds, our role in Business Services ensures that the resources, logistics, and financial structures are in place to make that education possible. It’s detailed work that demands precision, collaboration, and heart—and I found all three in abundance within the Owasso Public Schools community.

Owasso isn’t just where I work—it’s home. Being part of a school district that prioritizes integrity, student success, and continuous improvement has been deeply fulfilling. Whether supporting budget planning, streamlining processes, or helping to manage the operations that keep the district running smoothly, every task was connected to something greater: our students’ futures.
I’m especially proud of the culture at OPS. It’s a place where every employee, no matter their role, is valued for the part they play. Over the years, I’ve grown in my professional skills and developed strong relationships with coworkers who became more like family. Together, we’ve navigated challenges, celebrated milestones, and worked hard to keep the district moving forward.

Now, as I transition into a new season of my career, I carry with me the values and experiences that Owasso Public Schools helped instill—dedication, teamwork, and a deep belief in serving with excellence. I’ll always be grateful for the time I spent with OPS, and I’ll continue cheering on their mission from wherever life leads me next.

To anyone considering a career in public education support roles: don’t underestimate the impact you can make from behind the scenes. Every effort matters—and in a district like Owasso, you’ll be part of something truly meaningful!

I was out looking for a nomination for a teacher who we could give a classroom scholarship in support of their work. The first nominations received were for teachers at Ator Elementary. When parents share positive things about their children and the things they have learned over time, it says a lot for the school. Too often you hear only the complaints so it's nice to have positive feedback. When more than one direct you in the same direction, that tells you something good is happening there. So hats off to Ator Elementary School in Owasso OK.

One of the many great things about Owasso is the school district! Owasso has a total of eight elementary schools that serve our children in the area. Barnes is located off of 76th street between Sheridan Road and Memorial Road. What I love about Barnes is the sense of family and community that it provides our students. They are actively bridging the gap between school and home making school feel like a second home to children. They have an amazing staff that encourages learning in new innovative ways and they are always thinking outside the box to make learning fun! Trust me...you want your child to go to Barnes! It truly is the "best".
