Interested in the arts? Painting, drawing, pottery, Theater Arts, photography? If you are a child, adult or senior, The Fine Arts Institute has a class for you in one of these or numerous other art fields. The Edmond Fine Arts Institute was started in 1985 by four mothers who thought their children did not get enough art in Elementary School. Today they are in an 8000 square foot building just north of the downtown Edmond Post Office. They have gone from 90 students the first year to over 4200 in house and another 15,000 reached through Programming.They have new exhibits monthly in its gallery. They have classes and camps for school children for visual or preforming arts and adults class. Outreach programs for Juvenile Court and for Fosters Kids, an Arts program for Alzheimer's Association, and a youth chorus.Kids interested in Theater can audition for a part in the seasonal plays. Rehearse and act on stage in front of sold out audiences. They have their own art show where you can buy pieces made by students at the 5x5 art show in May. With special arrangements, kids can have birthday parties there and make clay pots, paint or draw and let their minds open up while having fun.The Fine Arts Institute has propelled Edmond beyond other communities when it comes to the Arts. Even Dale Chihuly a renown Glass Blower from Seattle donates a piece of his art every year to the FAI Annual Spring Sampler for a Fund Raiser. They have put Edmond Art on the map.
