    Moms, if you’re tired of hearing kid-complaining about dinner and toys and all the normal stuff, I highly recommend taking them to help serve dinner at the City Rescue Mission. What a great experience! Our kids got to serve meals, pick up trash, wipe down tables, and interact with the homeless families there with us. They got to meet kids their own age who jumped at the offer of seconds of chicken, beans, and salad. Everyone was so polite, thankful (they seriously clapped for the girls at least three times), and safe. There were lots of good questions afterward and they’re already asking to go back. What a blessing!

    Scissortail Park
    Scissortail Park in central Oklahoma City is a 70-acre public space connecting the Arts District to the Oklahoma River. The area around the park was aptly named the Core to Shore district. The park offers many amenities, including a 3.7-acre lake, children’s playground and nature play area, interactive water fountains, seasonal roller rink, dog park, sports courts, picnic grove, restaurant, performance stage, and great lawn. In 2023, the park's free summer concert series was ranked #3 in the nation by USA Today. The Upper Park opened on September 27, 2019, and Lower Park opened on September 23, 2022. This park created a large central park and connected the core of the city to the Oklahoma River with a beautiful rolling landscape in the center of Oklahoma City.

    Blink and you'll miss it- this little place is serving some really impressive seafood! If you're looking to celebrate and want some great fresh fish, I recommend checking out Sedalia's near NW 10th and May Avenue. Their menu changes regularly based on what's available, and it's a great chance to try some really unique options. People told me the focaccia is a must try, and I'm going to tell you the exact same thing. For an interesting dinner experience with a ton of flavor, you should definitely put this on your list!

    The Grind Training Facility is located on NW 50th and Council Rd. When you walk in you will have options between 10 cages with turf, a weight room, a pitching lab, and a 10,000-square-foot indoor turf field all within the facility. These accommodations can be used for baseball, soccer, softball, soccer, or football. The Grind offers cage rentals, lessons, camps, nutrition, rehabilitation, indoor leagues, and tournaments.     Fire Birds Meat Market
    A wonderful family-owned meat market could be just minutes away from your home. Located on Council Rd and 122nd St that you can't miss them because of the awesome decal on their window front. They have a variety of meats you can choose from such as beef, pork, chicken, and seafood. They select their very own fresh, high-quality meat that you don't want to miss out on. Besides having terrific meats, they also have marinades, seasoning, and other special treats like fresh pickles and salsa. They have amazing service and they don't forget about the fur babies either as they make homemade dog food when available. Just going to their website will make you hungry.

    Tinseltown USA Theatre
    So back when I was a kid, this theatre was a big deal! The largest theatre we had ever seen with so many screens. The neon lights were fantastic and the building itself was remarkable. Over time this theatre lost its luster and became a place that not many patrons frequented. Take us up to today and Tinseltown has really come back! Nice new heated seats with recliners, a large snack bar, a game room, and the XD Experience! The sound was awesome and everything seemed very clean. I will definitely be returning and can now recommend this as an option for out-of-town friends who are coming to the Adventure District.

    Lincoln Park
    Lincoln Park's origins go back to Oklahoma City's original planning. Specifically, the plan called for a Grand Boulevard, lined with trees, encircling the outer edge of the city. Grand Boulevard would be crowned by a major city park in each of the four quadrants. The city council approved the plan in 1909 and today will still have all four of the original big parks - Woodson Park (southwest), Trosper Park (southeast), Will Rogers Park (northwest), and this one, Lincoln Park.

    Originally called Northeast Park it was the largest park in the city at 744 acres. Streetcars brought in visitors from all over the city. Over time the park would develop a ninety-acre northeast ake, of course, an amphitheater, and home to the Oklahoma City Zoo, as well as the Science Museum.     I had never been to Francesca's until I stumbled upon this one while hunting down a festive cocktail dress to wear at our annual company Christmas dinner.     The Sanctuary Escape is a creepy and exciting escape room. Team building and communication are a must, so this is great for office groups, families, or a friend group! The Sanctuary Escape is located at the south end of the OKC Outlet Mall, north of I-40 and east of Council Rd. You won’t be disappointed. This was a great experience. Prepare to be jump scared a few times.

    Looking for something to do in Oklahoma City this week/weekend? Check out the Oklahoma State Fair at the fairgrounds from September 15th - September 25th! Food, rides, shows, games, and more await you. While attending myself I tried the Cinnamon Roll with Icing and Pecans and can say it is hands-down the best cinnamon roll I have ever eaten. You should definitely check it out if you are in the surrounding OKC area, like Edmond. It was only a 20-minute drive from Downtown Edmond. If you purchase tickets online, you can save $4 per ticket! I have included the link for easy access.

    Let me tell ya bout an Oklahoma staple that’s still going strong for 68 years now! The original location is still in the Davis, OK Arbuckle Mountains. Right off I-35. You have your choice of savory meat pies, decadent cream pies, or classic fruit. If you’re in the Oklahoma City area check out the store off NW 50th.

    Cross Timbers Brewery is a cute, tucked-away brewery that offers a wide range of unique beers. They also host monthly events like free movie nights, bingo charity events, live music, and private party rentals. Right next door is Edgecraft BBQ and who doesn't love BBQ and beer. You can also view their food truck schedule on their website.

    I just attended a charity event that they hosted and it was such a fun experience. The atmosphere was calm and edgy all in one. They provide both indoor and outdoor space. The indoor space has televisions for pleasure viewing, but also a covered outdoor patio with games like corn-hole. I recommend the Banana Plains beer, it tastes very similar to banana bread! Check it out!

    Just east of Hefner Parkway and Hefner Lake between 63rd and Wilshire is a park that is filled with multiple activities for the whole family. Dog parks, playgrounds, walking trails, and soccer fields are just a few of the activities that are available for recreation. Just a few minutes away from Lake Hefner and the Lighthouse District, this park is in the middle of the up and coming area. After playing in a kickball league at this park, I just knew I had to share the area with you.

In fact, it is just the building over but looks so nice and big for all the fur babies that they take care of. It is also located near West Edmond so there are several surrounding neighborhoods that utilize this fantastic location.     Will Rogers Gardens
    Will Rogers Gardens is a hidden gem, located at the corner of 36th Street and Portland Avenue. This 30-acre park was originally one of the four “crown jewels,” four parks connected by Grand Boulevard, circling the old outer edges of Oklahoma City. The land was originally purchased by the city in 1912 and was used as a dairy farm. In 1921, the park became the home of the Oklahoma City Council of Garden Clubs. The Council continues to offer classes today that promote horticulture, flower gardening, and conservation. Will Rogers Gardens is part of Will Rogers Park. Today it features a fun family aquatics center, a disk golf course, a 24-court Oklahoma City Tennis Center, and one of Oklahoma City's two senior adult recreation centers. Both the park and the gardens have been enjoyed by my family and many others that call Oklahoma City home.

    In the middle of Oklahoma City, you will find a magnificent glass dome named the "Crystal Bridge". The unique architectural design is pleasing to the eye and has caught a lot of attention from across the country. It is 224 feet long and is covered by 3,028 sections of translucent, double-layered acrylic panels. The Conservatory includes 13,000 square feet of gardens boasting beautiful flowers and greenery divided between two distinct climates: tropical wet zone and tropical dry zone. There is also a small-scale waterfall feature inside. Next to the Crystal Bridge, you will find walkway paths along with multiple ponds and a wonderful children's playground that intermingles art, nature, and fun into one. Here you will find zip lines, adventure rope courses, high-speed slides, paddle boarding, bike park, whitewater rafting, and much more.     Abu Omar food truck is parked daily at NW 36th and Portland. It is delicious and something different from most of the food trucks. Serving a variety of halal street food and sandwiches, but they are best known for their signature chicken shawarma. Everything I have tried this it has been amazing. I give this truck five stars!!
