Oklahoma City is the largest city in Oklahoma, offering a mix of urban and suburban lifestyles. The city has a thriving job market, a diverse food scene, and a variety of cultural and recreational activities.
It is late August in Oklahoma, the weather is great, children are back in school (if you have them) and it is finally Friday! What is there to do in Oklahoma City this weekend? I asked the same question earlier today so after a quick Google search and exploring travelok.com and visitokc.com, I found the answer in Oklahoma City. Here are the top three I want to check out if time allows. Tonight is Premier of Film Row, "Back to School." This is a family friendly event that happens on the third Friday of each month featuring: live music, art exhibits, food truck and activities for kids. The event is a block party on Sheridan Ave, the heart of the Film Row, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. There will be several food trucks at the event including LA Gumbo YA Ya, Epic Pops, and my personal favorite Roxy's Ice Cream along with several others. For more information visit their website, www.filmrowpremiere.com Tonight or tomorrow, there are OKC Dodger's games at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. They are both at 7:05 p.m. I have not made it to a game this year but I hear amazing things about the new team ownership. Go check it out for a family friendly night out. On Sunday morning the Color Me Rad 5K is taking place at the Oklahoma Fairgrounds. It is from 9 a.m.to noon. The race is part of a national tour that takes place throughout the US. The color represents the end of lame runs and the beginning of fun runs. Participants start out in white and throughout the run volunteers will coat runners with liquids, powered and gels of color including yellow, blue, green, pink, and purple. Unfortunately, I cannot make it this year but it is on my list to try!My favorite thing about living in Oklahoma City is there are always amazing community activities. You just have to find them.
